Auto-levelling your audio

You can have your podcasts automatically auto-levelled or mastered with a single checkbox in Omny Studio.

What is auto-levelling or mastering?

Mastering is the final step of audio post-production. The purpose of mastering is to balance sonic elements of a stereo mix and optimize playback across all systems and media formats.

Our mastering algorithm “levels out” the waveform of your audio to make the softer sounds just as loud as the louder ones. This means that if a host goes off-mic or whispers, the audio will be lifted in volume to make it easier to hear. This is also known as "normalization" or "auto-levelling".

Check out this blog post for a more detailed explanation and examples of why mastering your audio is important.

Note: Auto-level settings are not dynamic and if changed will not apply to previously uploaded or published audio. Applying or changing a setting will only effect files published or published from that point.

Enable auto-level for clips

To master a clip in Omny Studio, click on the clip and then check the “Auto-level clip audio” button. Click on Save Changes, and allow time for your clip to re-process.
