You can now upload, manage and distribute subscriber audio to your Apple Podcasts Subscription, directly within Omny Studio.

If you would like to launch a new show for your subscribers and haven't yet set it up in Apple Podcasts Connect, follow the steps below.

Note: You'll need to have enabled the Apple Subscriptions feature on your organization first. Follow this help guide to set up this feature.

If you already have your show set up in Apple Podcasts Connect, you can link your existing show in Podcasts Connect to Omny Studio by following this help article.

For non-subscriber content, follow the steps outlined in the Omny Help article:

1) Start by either creating a new program in Omny Studio by following the steps at Creating a New Program, or a new playlist by following the steps on how to Create a playlist within your program.

2) Upload your audio and add your clips into your playlist as usual, noting that a clip's visibility will determine which type of listener can play it in Apple Podcasts:

  • Restricted: the episode will only be playable by Apple Podcasts subscribers.

  • Public: the episode will be playable by both Apple Podcasts subscribers and non-subscribers.

  • Private: the episode will not appear in Apple Podcasts.

Check out this help article to learn how to set your clips in Omny to achieve Apple subscriber benefits such as ad-free, subscriber-only bonus episodes, early access, and archive access.

3) Set the playlist’s status:

In order to be able to submit a playlist via Delegated Delivery, the playlist’s status must be either Public, Restricted, or Unlisted .

  • Set the playlist to either Public or Unlisted if you want the show to be public but want to give special benefits to your Apple Subscribers (e.g. early content).

  • Set the playlist to Restricted if the content is for Apple Subscribers only.

Set your playlist to 'Restricted', then once you wish to make the show available to everyone, change the playlist's status to 'Public'

4) Submit the show via the Apple Subscriptions feature:

In the Details tab of your playlist, navigate to the Apple Subscriptions tab and submit your show by clicking on Create show in Apple Podcasts:

This will automatically synchronize all the show and episode details, as well as the audio into Apple Podcasts Connect:

If a clip fails to synchronize with Apple Podcasts, you will see a red cross appear next to the icon. You can manually initiate the resynchronization of the clip by choosing the Retry Apple premium sync option from the menu:

5) Log into your Apple Podcasts Connect account to set up the subscription benefits for your new show. Learn more about subscription benefits on Apple's website.

Notes:

  • Once this feature is enabled, content updates should only be made in Omny. Any changes made in Apple Podcasts Connect (for example updating the show’s description) could be overwritten by the API.

  • This feature enable you to manage your premium content via Omny, however the set up and management of your Apple Subscriptions will continue to be managed in Apple Podcasts Connect.

  • Omny Studio uses an Apple API to make it easy for you to upload and push content updates directly into your Apple Podcasts Connect account. Files uploaded to Omny, along with any updates made to those files, are subsequently mirrored and pushed into the Apple ecosystem. Please note that:

    • Subscriber audio files are served by Apple to your subscribers, therefore subscriber audio analytics are only accessible in Apple Podcasts Connect.

    • Non-subscriber audio files are served by us, therefore analytics flow back into our analytics UI.
